Love - an intense feeling of deep affection

To love, to be loved, to have loved
is like climbing a mountain
the path is rocky and uncertain
help comes in different forms
the oxygen tank - when air grows thin-
the knowledge that their affection is returned
is the strength to keep going

What happens when you reach the top?
where do you go from there
is there any real end to the climb?
when you reach the top what else is there for you to do
but to fall back down?

On the path up...
what happens when you fall
there is no safety net
no trampoline at the bottom
to bounce you back up
so what happens when you hit th bottom
from such a height you climbed to

Do you pick up the pieces of your shattered body
and walk away like nothing happened?
Do you find another mountain and try again?
Or are you so afraid of falling
that you cannot pull yourself up to the first ledge?
Are you stuck at the bottom staring up
wondering how so many people conquered the climb
when you couldn't
What would you do?
Do you turn around and give up?
Or do you fight for it.
